Im memoriam Jo Konrad

By | 2024-07-18

Just two days before his 71st birthday Jo Konrad died unexpectedly.

Jo Konrad was an ultralight pilot from the very beginning. He was one of the founders of EMF, the European Microlight Federation, in 2004. More than 40 years he made a significant contribution to the development of the simple ultralights into the microlights from today. He also made it possible to have a simple regulation for the 120kg and the 600 kg in Germany and made flying microlights popular. His strength was networking at an international level and he had a good understanding of the European and national legal situations. He also could be persistent, but nevertheless he was able to put his opinion aside when it was in the interest of the cause.

Since 1982 Jo Konrad was involved in the German Ultralight Aviation Association, DULV, of which he was the “boss” since 1986.

His death is a great loss in the microlight world. Our sincere condolences go to his wife Carmen and his family.
